February 12-28

Requirements:

  • Poll Workers MUST be able to work the whole period, taking off no more than 3 days.

  • Shifts run 7 hours, with the option of mornings or afternoons.

Voter Affiliation:

  • Registered Unaffiliated or Democrat voters can be nominated equally .

Elections don’t happen on their own—they’re made possible by neighbors like you. Each election, more than 600 trained, paid poll workers keep Buncombe County’s voting locations running smoothly. These are your friends, coworkers, and community members who make sure every voter can cast their ballot during Early Voting or on Election Day. You can do more than vote—you can help ensure democracy work.

Positions Available:

Chief Judge

  • Chief Judges must have experience working as either an early voting or election day poll worker.

  • Cheif Judges make $17/hr.

  • Training is required and paid.

Assistants

  • Assistant do not need any prior experience working elections.

  • Early Voting Assistants make $15/hr.

  • Training is required and paid.

Nomination Process:

  • Chief Judges and Assistants must be nominated by the County Party.

  • If you wish to be nominated, contact your Cluster Leader below.

  • The deadline to submit Chief Judge and Assitant nominations for Early Voting in 2026 will be November 28, 2025.
