Each month we discuss a book agreed upon at the previous meeting. The November pick is "The Rise and Fall of the Artificial State" by Jill Lepore.
Inspired by Hannah Arendt's "The Origins of Totalitarianism," Lepore offers a critical examination of the modern technological revolution and how it has changed our social and political institutions. One review refers to the book as an inspiring wake-up call though a reviewer in The Guardian finds Lepore's recommendations limited or too facile. Read it and decide for yourself.
Who should attend: Anyone who wants to read and discuss books of interest with fellow left-leaning readers.
