Black Mountain Democrats Read Book Club

  • Peri Social House 406 West State Street Black Mountain, NC, 28711 United States (map)

Join us the third Friday of each month to discuss a work of fiction or non-fiction chosen by the group at the previous meeting.

The March selection is "The Sum of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone and How We Can Prosper Together " by Heather McGhee. Using economic data, McGhee makes the case that discriminatory laws and practices targeting African Americans adversely impact society at large. However, when people unite across racial and ethnic lines there is a "solidarity dividend" that helps everyone.

Come early for coffee and settle in for a good and sometimes far-ranging discussion with fellow dems.

Who should attend: Anyone who wants to read and discuss books of interest with fellow left-leaning readers.
