Extreme Weather Survivors (EWS) is a nationwide network of non-profit organizations, with the mission of creating space for survivors of natural disasters to come together to learn, share, and support one another.
EWS is bringing the Stolen Summers traveling storytelling project to Asheville on September 30, 2025, at Hi-Wire Brewery in Biltmore Village (4 PM--6 PM). This project pairs 30 survivors of extreme weather with 30 artists from across the country to capture and share their lived experiences through large-scale visual art, film, and performance.
The Stolen Summers project seeks to honor stories of loss, resilience, and community in the face of fires, floods, heat, and storms—and to connect these individual experiences into a larger story of how extreme weather is stealing aspects of American life. Each local event will include the art installation alongside survivor voices and local performers, creating space for reflection, dialogue, and community connection.
