Happy New Year! We're jumping right into this critical election year with phone banking, a kickoff, and more. Here's your guide to getting started in 2024.
Kickoff Volunteers Needed
Volunteers are needed for various roles during the kickoff event on Saturday, January 20, including setup, greeters, cleanup, registration, coat check, drink ticket sales, and navigators. If you wish to volunteer, kindly reach out to Stephen Robinson at stephenrobinsonavl@gmail.com.
Make Calls to Your Precinct
We're hitting the ground running with phone banking this year. Volunteers will call into their own precinct twice a week (Monday evenings and Tuesday mornings), and we need your help.
Our first set of phone calls is going to be to invite Democrats to our 2024 Vote Blue Kickoff scheduled for January 20th at 6pm at AB-Tech's conference center. Our script will also include volunteer recruitment, Photo ID & primary information. After January 20th, we'll have a new script focusing on recruiting volunteers as well as informing people about our annual meetings, Early Voting, Photo IDs, etc.
We'll also be kicking off a year of phone banking this Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Buncombe Dems HQ. Hope to see you there!
Candidate Forums
We have some exciting primary elections happening in Buncombe this year, and we're already hard at work organizing candidate forums.
Dem Women of Buncombe will host a forum for the two District Judge races on Thursday, January 25 at 6 p.m. at Buncombe Dems HQ. Candidates Emily Sutton Dezio, Robin Leigh Merrell, Todd Lentz, and Meredith Pressley Stone will respond to questions submitted by local Democrats. Our new chapter of the NCDP Jewish Caucus has organized a forum to help voters make an informed decision when voting for the Buncombe County Clerk of Superior Court on Saturday, January 27 at 10 a.m. Candidates Jean Marie Christy and Johanna Finkelstein will share their experiences and respond to questions submitted by local Democrats. Get Ready to Organize Your Precinct
Our annual precinct organizing meetings are fast approaching! This year we will host all the precinct meetings on Saturday, February 17. The Fairview/ Reynolds and Leicester cluster meetings are already posted, and if you're in these clusters, you can register today at the links above. Otherwise, stay tuned for information about more clusters soon.

Can't swing a sponsorship but still want to join us to kick off election season? Regular advance and discounted tickets will be available through January 17, and tickets will also be available at the door.
